This was the last stop for a day which included stops at five other waterfalls in the Umpqua National Forest along Highway 138 in southern Oregon. The weather went from a steady rain to partly cloudy throughout the day, but I was fortunate enough to shoot all of the falls in some sort of shade. At Toketee Falls I setup and snapped the shutter whenever a cloud went over the sun, trying a variety of shutter speeds with the help of a neutral density filter. It is an easy hike along the river for about a third of a mile before reaching an impressive viewing platform wrapped around a tree. I have seen a couple of images from down at river level, but it was late in the day and it looked like it would take quite a bit of time to get to the bottom, let alone getting back up! I had to settle for the standard “tourist” shot, but with falls this pretty, who cares?
