I spent this week around home here at Buena Vista. The aspens had pretty much peaked and I couldn’t see going anywhere else when it looked so nice here.

There is a large grove of aspens that I can see on top of a ridge across the valley from my house that really drew my interest. Silly what looks so close in the mountains can be so far away. It took an hour to get there over some pretty rough roads. The area is called Aspen Ridge and the road takes you through an aspen grove that goes on for miles. I spent hours shooting and it was so nice I ended up going back two more times.

There was quite a wind storm that blew through one evening and upon going back up in the morning, there were a lot of downed branches. This image is of a golden aspen leaf still attached to one of the branches laying on the ground.
