What a crescendo to a week long visit to Zion National Park! This was my last morning there and the conditions were rather questionable. A front was moving through and there was a light drizzle falling as I set up my gear behind the park museum. As sunrise approached, somehow the light broke through the cloud bank to the east and bathed the scene in soft red light. The clouds and the peaks of the Towers of the Virgin glowed in the amazing light as I hurried to make as many exposures as possible as the conditions changed quickly. Soon the lights were out and it was time to pack up and start the journey back home. What an ending to a wonderful and productive trip.

  1. Whoa….superb shot, Monte. Those questionable times are when you really want to be ready with that camera. Most of the time you come away empty, but occasionally you come away with something like this. Excellent work! I gotta get back to Zion next autumn.

    1. Hey Guy. Thanks! It was an amazing morning. The skies looked like I should just crawl back in bed when I got up, but you never no what will happen with nature…
